Universally known, the heart symbolizes our deep emotion with someone special, a certain object or even a particular endeavor. We send greeting cards shaped or painted with heart. With the presence of the art of folding papers, we can deliver our deep emotion by way of Origami beating heart.

Origami is the art of folding paper that has been practiced for centuries with great recognition. Likewise, this art is adapted by modern practitioners and presented the creative works of paper folding to the present-day viewers. Origami is the careful creation and the unification of patterns that strongly suggest meaningful symbols to contemporary audiences.

The origami beating heart is a learners’ project. This is a great way to start with learning Origami and create your own heart that will create great impact for your love one with the art. You can learn the pattern that has no complex folds or curls involved.

However, you can start learning the terms that crafters are required to know; the mountain and valley fold. To start with origami beating heart, prepare a square sheet of paper and fold in half vertically, then in half horizontally. Open one fold so that you have a rectangle with a valley fold in the middle.

Ensure that the fold is at the top, and then fold the upper left and upper right corners to the center to form a triangle. Turn the paper over and fold the right edge of the triangle to the fold in the middle allowing the lower flap to open out. Repeat on the left side and now you have formed a diamond.

You need to sharpen the creases and turn the paper over. Next, you need to align the diamond so that the split point faces you. Grip the bottom-right edge of the inner diamond and fold it to meet the inner crease. Do it with the left edge.

You may now open the folds back up and grip the horizontal edge in the center of the diamond. Lift it upwards and fold it inward along the folded diamond edges. You have now formed a diamond with an elongated tip pointing upwards.

Turn the paper over and align the diamond and let the split point faces you. Fold the split points up to meet the crease of the triangular flap in the center of the piece. You can see two right-angle corners, formed by the folded split points located in the center of the lower edge.

Grip the corner and make a fold of 45-degree angle. The space left between the folded pieces will form a symmetrical triangle. To finish the top of the heart, grip the tips of the split points and tuck them behind the flaps of the inner diamond.

To round the edge of the heart, fold the left and right points inward towards the center. Pinch the flap at the back of the heart and you now have the Origami heart beating by pushing forward repeatedly.
